Well, this is pretty simple.
See the button, where it is written help?

You just need to click on that!  Rolling Eyes

It will take you to a pretty useless FAQ, but still good for quick lookups. Just click on a question to make the reply appear.

Well, that's all for the help section. But really. This guide is more useful! Just go back to the summary post at the top.

PostSubject: Categories and forums - the different types   Sat Jul 02, 2016 12:17 pm

I think it is important to understand the structure of this website in terms of forums, before we go into more details about posting.

The way our forum is structured is the following:

  • Categories contain different Forums, and can be recognized by this icon:
  • Forums contain different Topics, and can be recognized by this icon:
  • Topics include different posts by different people. One Topic is usually one subject of dicussion, regrouping all posts into one place.

As a consequence, you cannot post a new topic inside a Category, but only inside a Forum.

There are three types of Categories:

  • New Category  means that a new post has been made in one of the Forums of that Category.
  • Locked Category  means you cannot post in any Forum of that Category, unless you have special rights.
  • Normal Category  for all the other Categories.

There are also three types of Forums, that use the same system: Normal , New  and Locked .

We have used a similar color convention throughout the website, for Topic icons: yellow is for New (meaning, when there are new posts in the topic), red is for Normal (no new posts).

Here is a summary of the different Topic icons:
NameNormal iconNew iconDescription
SubjectThe usual icon you will find for a Topic. It will slide down the forum if no one posts a reply and get bumped up to the top if they do.
HotThis is a popular topic. A lot of replies!
LockedThis topic is locked. Unless you have special rights, you cannot reply to it.
StickyA sticky topic is stuck at the top of the first page of a Forum.
AnnouncementThis is a topic that is stuck at the top of every page of a Forum.
Global AnnouncementThis is a global announcement that will be at the top of every forum on the board and also appear in the user control panel.

PostSubject: How to post   Sun Jul 03, 2016 1:48 am

To create a topic, go to the relevant forum and click the New Topic button.
Then, you will be faced with the following image:

  1. Write the title of your topic
  2. Choose a color for your title (optional)
  3. Choose a description for your topic (optional)
  4. Write the first post. The first part of the ribbon allows you to make text bold, italic, underlined or strikethrough.
  5. The second part of the ribbon allows you to align your text
  6. The third part enables you to make bullet lists, numbered lists and line breaks
  7. Then, you can also quote, insert code, a spoiler, hidden text or a table
  8. You can host images before you insert them, and choose the size of them. You can post a link, a YouTube video, a DailyMotion video or a flash link.
  9. You can set headers, edit the font size, color, font itself of what you write.
  10. This adds some superscript and subscript buttons, along with scrolling and random number generator
  11. Here you can add the current date and time, insert unformatted text (that you would have copied from elsewhere) and change the display setting from WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) to bbcode.
  12. This part enables you to add smilies to your post
  13. Click on the little plus on the right, then you can change some options about the topic and post
  14. Here you can add a poll to the topic.
  15. Once you're done, you can hit Preview or Send. You can also draft your post, to keep it for later.

When you reply to a post, you can use the  button or the quick reply panel located at the bottom of the topic.
You can also use the  and  buttons, to quote or multi-quote.

How to use multi-quote?
You need to click the button for each post you want to quote.
They will change and become  to let you know the post is selected. Know that the selection is valid across pages as well. If you click the button again, it will deselect the post. Once done, you must use the  button to confirm your quote.

You can also edit or delete your post (most of the time).

You can also tag people in a post, instead of quoting them. Do it like this: @Zylh.
